With the beautiful weather today it felt like the ideal time to stop by the new Zero Gravity space on Pine Street. Couple that with it being their first weekend open and the fantastic new patio/beer garden, it was a recipe for success. The new space is located next door to South End Kitchen and Lake Champlain Chocolates. It is also directly across the street from Queen City Brewery making this an engaging area.
They had four beers on tap which I grabbed a flight of. Green State Lager, Little Wolf, Conehead and Bretthead While there, I was lucky enough to be able to speak with Matt Wilson, Co-Founder and Director of Sales and Marketing. I asked him about the goals of the new space. Zero Gravity has been in need of larger brewing facilities. To meet the need they temporarily contracted with Smuttynose Brewing in Hampton, NH as the first brewing partner for a new Smuttynose facility with expanded brewing capacity. The new Pine Street location allows Zero Gravity to bring production back to Vermont from Smuttynose. With the St. Paul street location being all about the brewpub experience, especially partnered up with American Flatbread, Pine Street provides visitors with a more classic brewery visit.
A big part of the experience was the new patio/beer garden which was important for Matt to see implemented as he feels it brings a more complete brewery experience. In addition, the new output of a larger brewery allows them to get to retail with an in house canning line. Sounds like much more to come.
